Tyler Traffic Troubles Made Better by Drivers

Another round of construction continues to back up Tyler traffic this weekend, but this time things are going smoother than anticipated.

Construction has delayed drivers headed into two of Tyler's busiest intersections, Old Bullard and the Loop and Broadway and the Loop. But the traffic flow has been better than last month when the new medians were put in. Texas Department of Transportation Engineer Randall Redmond credits drivers with helping them out.

"The public has been great out here," Redmond says. "We really appreciate how the general public has found alternate routes. You see less traffic on the loop right now than every before, so we appreciate the patience. That's the reason we're ahead of schedule like we are, because they found alternate routes and we were able to get our hot mix in."

The Department of Transportation hopes to be finished with the Loop repaving phase of construction on Monday.
