Man goes to jail for selling cocaine

TYLER, TX - A 32-year-old Longview man has been sentenced to federal prison for drug violations.

Dedric Mandell Thomas pleaded guilty back in October, to possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine and has now been sentenced to 82 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Leonard E. Davis. Thomas also agreed to the forfeiture of $5,000.00.

According to information presented in court, since July 2006, Thomas had been distributing crack cocaine to others in and around the Longview area.

A federal indictment was returned on Sep. 9, 2008, charging Thomas and four others with federal crimes.

John Richard Harmon, Jr. was sentenced to 78 months in federal prison on Feb. 26, 2009, Devetric Tramel Johnson was sentenced to 120 months in federal prison on Feb. 10, 2009, and D'Angelo Lasarre Thomas was sentenced to 46 months in federal prison on Apr. 2, 2009. The remaining defendant awaits sentencing.
