SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Authorities seized almost 200 pounds of pot along Interstate 20 this weekend.

The Smith County constables office in Lindale says 60-year-old Rigoberto Machado was pulled over in an 18-wheeler Saturday for a traffic violation.

However, an officer discovered 180 pounds of pot stashed in boxes. They believe the marijuana was headed to Georgia where it would be sold at a street value of $500 to $750 a pound.

"The marijuana is concealed in butcher paper, dryer sheets, and possibly what is called a cover odor on the outside and that's in case dogs were used," said Deputy Mark Waters. "This is for resale purposes and profit."

Machado, who is from Florida, is being held in the Smith County jail on a $50,000 bond.
