Mike Eubank was only seventeen when he joined the Marine Corps. By the time he was eighteen, he was fighting in the jungles of Vietnam. During the time Eubank was in Vietnam in 1968 and '69, he was missing in action for two full days when he was caught behind enemy lines, and was wounded three times.
After his third wound, Eubank was sent back home to a different kind of war, one of misunderstanding and misinformation. Eubank says that the "Vietnam Veterans Outreach" Program probably saved his life, and that his work now in "The Patriot Guards" is a "Godsend." The purpose of the Guards is to honor those who have fought for our freedom. They serve as honor guards at military funerals and work with "Welcome Home Soldiers" to greet returning military. Mike Eubank is determined that returning military will never be treated as the returning veterans of Vietnam were treated.
