Whole lotta mud!

JACKSONVILLE, TX (KLTV) - Last year over 14,000 got their hands dirty, and this year was no different.

The Highlifter ATV Nationals attract quite a cross-section of people.

It seems so...messy. A question popped into mind: Why?

"Because its laid back, relaxed," said one fan. "You get to get dirty, you don't have to be prim and proper."

So...the point was to get messy, and as often as possible.

"We ride every weekend where we're at and we figured we'd come down here and hit some bigger holes and see what everyone else has got," said another fan.

And some of them had...something.

"We put a 10 inch lift in it, 30 inch mud lights all around it, canines air filter, black rhino CDI box, fully snorkeled and cage, overhead light bar, strobe lights all around an extra battery and a winch," the person explained. "That's about it right now."

So, Paul kept it simple.

"Oh my God, get that!"

It all looked...expensive.

"I got about $28,000 in it. You got that much in your car? No. In your house? Nope. This where you sleep? Pretty much."

Well, hopefully the seat reclines, I thought.

Events include a wheelie contest, the mudda cross and the endurance challenge. Five miles east of Jacksonville on Highway 79 is the place. Its the Mudcreek Off-road Park and it runs through Saturday.
