KILGORE, TX (KLTV) - It's definitely an eye-catcher. At United Machine Shop in Kilgore, workers manufactured a 6-foot tall by 12-foot long Colt-45. It was easily the second biggest handgun I've ever seen.

"Our machine shop worked diligently, fabrication all come together everybody together made this happen it was wonderful," said Rodney Williams, the gun's designer.

Workers machined the piece out of plate and scrap metal, the mock-up is dimensionally accurate - made for a really big hand.

"6-foot barrel its 144 millimeter," said Williams. "Everybody had a little bit of something to say about it the design the way they wanted it to look and the way it performs."

Workers put a thousand man hours into the project and hope it catches on.

"We'd love to do more of them, as long as everybody likes it we'll be ready to do more," said Jimmy Jerden, also the gun's designer.

So, will it have military application?

"It's the best we've seen ever so far," said Williams.

"Top of the line," said Jerden.

It could very well be the next big thing in military circles, in the mess hall, it was a bar-b-que pit that is giving a whole new meaning to the term, firing-up-the-grill.

The inventors tell us they hope to market The Big Gun Bar-b-que for around $70,000.
