LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - An assistant band director at Longview ISD has been fired after being arrested last night for child pornography violations.

According to information presented in court, Albert Slatter, Jr. was arrested on a complaint alleging possession of child pornography.

Brian Bowman, the Public Information Officer for LISD, said Slatter is not a certified teacher, but is a teacher's aide. The Assistant Band Director has been with LISD for 6 years and was a woodwind instructor for two years before that. He studied music at The University of North Texas and while in the United States Army.

If convicted, Slatter faces up to 10 years in federal prison. It is important to note that a complaint is merely a charge and should not be considered as evidence of either guilt or innocence.
