TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Camp Ford in Tyler gave East Texans a chance to step back in time Saturday.  Members of Captain James P. Douglas Camp and the East Texas Brigades braved cold weather to take part in Civil War reenactments throughout the weekend.  Held in conjunction with the Azalea Trail events, members showcased period dress, weapons, and equipment.  Visitors were able to see living history and talk to reenactors about what Civil War life was like.

"It gives the people, mainly kids and people to come out and see the equipment, the uniforms hear the cannon shoot, see the muskets, talk to people, and it gives them a feel of what it was like back then," said event organizer Johnnie Holley.  To catch the cannon in action and see Civil War history come to life, the camp will open back up Sunday at 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Admission is free and donations are appreciated.
