New Airport Terminal Dedicated to Veterans

On this Veteran's Day, some folks gathered at Tyler's new airport terminal to remember.

The new plaque honors the namesake of Pounds Regional Airport, Lt. Jack Pounds. He was the first Tylerite to die in World War II.

The city's leaders want everyone to remember not just Lt. Pounds, but everyone who's paid the ultimate price for freedom.

City Council member Felicity Reedy says, "Think about the sacrifices... Those who have taken years out of their lives to go and fight, defend our freedoms."

Before the new terminal opened, there was debate on keeping the Pounds name on the airport. In the end, the City Council felt it was important to keep the name, so folks would never forget the sacrifice.
