HENDERSON COUNTY, TX - A Henderson County man was found guilty of Injury to a Child.

Curtis Wayne Huddleston was charged with beating his toddler son, a beating which left bruises and welts for many days on the toddler.

Huddleston was indicted in 2008 after Tony Duncan of the Henderson County Sheriff's Department and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services investigated a report of child abuse.

While attempting to serve the arrest warrant on Huddleston in a Liberty County Parole Office, Huddleston assaulted a deputy and led police on a four hour foot chase. Huddleston, a former convict, is under indictment in Liberty County for the incident.

During the two day trial, Assistant District Attorney Chris Martin told the jury that there is nothing wrong with disciplining your child but that Mr. Huddleston had taken it "way too far".  Martin showed the jury pictures of the toddler taken up to eight days later which depicted numerous bruises and welts. The prosecution believed the beating was due to Mr. Huddleston's anger over the toddler using the bathroom in his pants.

"It is hard to believe that a grown man would do something like that to his own son who wasn't even potty trained yet" said Martin. The jury deliberated for approximately three hours before returning the guilty verdict.

Judge Moore is scheduled to sentence Huddleston on May 7th.
