"Cheap Eats": We struck gold!

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Our first stop was Fuller's Fine Foods at 601 East Front St. in Tyler. I order the hamburger. While it was over the flames, skilled hands fixed the burger just the way I wanted it. I added a soda to the finished product paid $4.87.

Next, I hit up Tortilleria y Taqueria Martinez on 1037 East Erwin St. in Tyler. I spotted tacos and had to indulge myself. The ingredients came together in the back, but when owner Ramiro Martinez brought it out I got quite a surprise - three tacos, a drink, hot sauce and chips, all for $4.87 - a full tray of food. Hmm...I needed a tie breaker.

With two down, I swung by Bodacious Bar-b-q off 1879 Troup Hwy in Tyler.
. Inside I scanned my options. I was leaning towards the Sloppy Joe - extra sloppy - and found your third "Cheap Eats" deal: A Sloppy Joe, chips and a drink for $4.80, but we weren't done just yet.

Our final stop, D's Coffee Shop and Grill on 710 East Front St., has been a Tyler institution for more than forty years.

"Throw it across the grill like [that and] they should be good and greasy," said Carl Gray showing me his technique.

The menu said it all. I opted for the corn dog and fries and watched the magic happen right in front of me. You'd think I would have been full by then. Minutes felt like hours, but when they set it down it front of me, I found our "Cheap Eats" winner at $4.76.
