A citywide cleanup is coming to one East Texas town

LONGVIEW, TX - The Citywide Cleanup, Tire Recycling, and Electronics Recycling events have been scheduled for 8:00 a.m. - Noon, Saturday, April 4, 2009. The events are sponsored by the City of Longview and Keep Longview Beautiful and are in conjunction with the Great American Cleanup, the nation's largest community improvement program.

Citywide Cleanup volunteers clean the street or park of their choice. This year, special focus will be placed on removing litter around Loop 281. Volunteers can register, receive supplies, and enjoy refreshments at the event kickoff, which will be held from 8:00 - 9:00 a.m. at the Longview Mall north parking lot, 3500 McCann Rd.  Volunteers will be eligible for prizes.

Tire Recycling and Electronics Recycling will be held across from the Longview Public Library, 222 W. Cotton St. Tire Recycling is limited to Longview residents and non-commercial users only. Electronics recycling is also limited to Longview residents. Most electronics will be accepted during the event, except televisions, small business copiers, and industrial equipment. To participate in recycling events, please bring proof of Longview residency.
