TYLER, TX - The Caldwell Elementary Arts Academy has been named a 2008-2009 Title I Distinguished Performance school by the Texas Education Agency (TEA).

Distinguished Performance schools are recognized as consistently providing educational excellence.

"We are deeply honored and proud that Caldwell received recognition by the Texas Education Agency," said Caldwell Elementary Principal Rebecca Clapp. "As the principal, I am proud of the hard work and dedication of our Caldwell staff and students. When someone outside our Caldwell community recognizes their commitment to education, it lets our teachers know they are appreciated."

Title I is the largest of the federally funded elementary and secondary education programs and federal law requires each state to identify those Title I schools that are meeting or exceeding the state's standards. More information and a complete list of the Title I Distinguished Schools in Texas can be found at:

Region 7 Education Service Center (ESC) will present each of the schools with a certificate of achievement on behalf of the Texas Education Agency on May 12, 2009, at the service center located in Kilgore, Texas.
