East Texas youth recognized for their art

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Across the country this month, our youth are being recognized for their artistic ability.  East Texas is no exception.

The Tyler Museum of Art is recognizing National Youth Art Month by showcasing high school art. The exhibition, which features paintings, photography and sculptures opened Sunday afternoon with a family day celebration.  The five most outstanding entries received Merit of Honor awards.

"We were doing a block print in our class, and I didn't know what to come up with, and there is this thing where I have an obsession with rubber ducks, so I thought I have to put a rubber duck somewhere, so I did it," said John Tyler High School Senior Jessica Albarran who received Merit of Honor.  "It's very overwhelming.  I didn't know it was going to get this far."   The students came from high schools across East Texas, like Big Sandy, Hallsville, Hawkins and Lindale.
