TYLER, TX (KLTV) - The Tyler Fire Department held its annual awards banquet Saturday night.  The Legends, Life Saving and Firefighter of the Year awards were among the honors given out.

This year, Marvin Wall took home the Legends Award.  Wall has been with the department for 40 years and will soon be retiring.  The Life Saving Award went to Captain Kenneth Scheid.  Scheid performed the Heimlich maneuver on a man at the Andrew's Center in Tyler who was chocking on some food.  Scheid was able to dislodge the food and save the man.  And this year's Firefighter of the Year went to Driver/Engineer James Seaton.  The fire department say Seaton is always going above and beyond to make sure their equipment is in top shape.

This was the department's 18th annual event.
