TYLER, TX (KLTV) - President Obama's comment on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno is generating a lot of criticism. It happened when the president was talking about his bowling skills.

The audience was laughing, but many at home were stung by the reference to the Special Olympics. The director of the ARC of Smith County, who works with and helps those with disabilities, says she believes President Obama is sorry, but at the same time there is a lesson here.

"Words do hurt," Susan Hawkins, the ARC of Tyler Director. "And it has hurt but I do believe that he is rectifying that he has called the Director of Special Olympics this morning and has apologized and has invited the Special Olympic group to come to the White House and I truly believe that some positive things can come of this for Special Olympics."
