Money for VA Extended Care Facility coming to Tyler

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Tyler will be building an Extended Care Facility for veterans thanks to a $8,680,000 grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Veteran's Affairs (VA).

"I'm pleased that this funding will help improve and expand health care services for our wounded heroes and spur growth in Texas communities," said Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison. "The stimulus bill that Congress passed in February should have focused on more projects like these, which our government had already planned to do and that are in fact stimulative."

A grant for the same amount was also awarded to build a facility in Houston. The nursing home facilities will have room for 160 beds each.
