LIFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A former Idol contestant is ready for her voice to be heard...

Singing is nothing new for Kendall Beard.

"This process compared to what I've done in the past is, I don't really know how to explain it," Beard tried to explain. "It's amazing because I get to see where all my hard work has paid off."

But, the Idol stage was different for the songbird.

"The audience really isn't as big as people think it is, and you know your in there with judges, a few audience members, your family and some cameras, but the thing is, you know how many people are on the other side of that camera," said Beard.

She conquered her fears, but she's still shocked she made it to the top 36.

"I cannot believe I'm standing right here on this stage getting ready to sing for 40 million people," said Beard. "I cannot believe it."

East Texans were among the 40 million rooting for the small town girl and for that she says thank you will never be enough.

"The amount of support that I've received from East Texas is so overwhelming," said Beard. "It's been so amazing."

She is taking that support and hitting the road soon to talk to people in the music industry.

"It has opened so many doors for me already," said a grateful Beard, and she is still dreaming big.

Kendall said her friends have always wanted her to try out for American Idol and she is just glad she went to Puerto Rico last summer and gave it a shot.

The John Tyler Lions always seem to look sharp in their uniforms. But thanks to East Texas lawyer Keith Miller, the Lions will look better and play safer. Helmets that advertise lowering the impact of hits, and possibly reduce the amount of concussions, come with a hefty price-tag. Miller's donation of 7,500 dollars, will go to help the lions cover that cost. "Keith Miller's been a big sponsor of John Tyler High School football program for years now.  I know it's...More >>

The last time we talked about the Kilgore Bulldogs, quarterback Buddy Jackson and wide receiver Jonathan Shepherd were apart of the 800-meter relay team that won gold at the 2017 state track meet. But today they are back in the pads, and looking to turn their speed into touchdowns.  Competing in District 9-4A, Kilgore has always had a strong run game that helped them become the 2016 District Champs.
