WINONA, TX - First Baptist Church of Winona will host the Mark Trammell Trio in concert. The event will be held Friday, March 20th, will begin at 7:00 pm and is open to the public.
The group will be featuring many songs from their current recording "Always Have a Song" as well as many of the favorites they have recorded over the past five years. The talent of Sweatman at the piano and Trammell on bass guitar gives the group the flexibility to present a wider variety of music.
The Mark Trammell Trio was begun in 2003 by gospel music veteran performer Mark Trammell. Trammell had spent almost 30 years singing with some of the top groups in gospel music - the Kingsmen Quartet, the Cathedral Quartet, Greater Vision and Gold City, before forming this new group over five years ago. This group allows Trammell the freedom to travel the concert circuit, present numerous concerts in churches, as well as fill preaching engagements for services, revival meetings and Bible conferences.
Trammell, who is the baritone vocalist and bass guitarist for the group, is joined on the platform by two outstanding young gospel singers and musicians in their own right. Eric Phillips sings tenor with the group and along with Trammell are two original members of the group. He is widely recognized as one of the top young tenor singers in gospel music. Eric formerly traveled with the Melody Masters Quartet.
Dustin Sweatman sings lead and plays the piano for the group. Dustin formerly sang and played piano with the Dixie Melody Boys and comes from a long line of gospel music singers. His father has had a popular regional group called Liberty in Georgia for a number of years. Dustin has the unique ability to be skilled enough to be both a top lead singer as well as piano player.
Tony Watson, Pastor of First Baptist Church of Winona, invites the public to attend this special evening of gospel music. "This concert was scheduled right at a week ago and we are excited about the opportunity we have to present one of the top groups in gospel music. I know Mark Trammell and this trio have a number of fans throughout East Texas and we want to encourage all to come and support this great group. We hope this is the first of a number of these type of events we are able to present," said Watson.
Watson has been promoting concerts for 19 years in Central Texas, where he was formerly based, through his organization, Crimson River Ministries. "We have had the Mark Trammell Trio several times in our events and they are always a blessing."
