TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Race car designers came from all over East Texas Saturday to compete head to head.  More than 250 cubs scouts arrived with handcrafted cars for the Cub Scout District Pinewood Derby.

Cars were judged in either speed and style and ranged from fast to fancy.  Cub scout creations raced down a four lane track where electronic timers recorded results down to the thousandth of a second.  Hosted by Pack 369, race organizer Claire Hill says the race gives scouts a chance to enjoy their hard work.

"It's all about the boys, and when you see them, and they're racing that car, and they're down there shaking and hollering for it, ya can't beat it, so I keep coming back for more," said Hill.  There was also an adult division for those racers a little too old to be a Cub Scout.
