EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - Americans are famous for indulging in excess, and a web site chronicles our love of the extreme in food. How much, is too much?

Pounds of meats, butter and enough fat to clog an elephants arteries! They are all things that people are really eating. The web site This is Why You're Fat lists unbelievable combinations and portions that people really eat. Those in the food industry find it hard to believe.

"I don't know how anybody could eat it, just thinking about it, [that's] gross," said Paulie Bauta. "I can't even think that who would even think of making that."

One 30,000 calorie sandwich had cardiac arrest written all over it, 9 meats , 5 cheeses, fried onion rings, mushrooms, and butter on a loaf of white bread.

"To me, that is just insane," said Dudley Lane. "Most people need 1500 to 2000 calories a day."

"What are you thinking when you're even thinking of making something like that, let alone preparing it," said Bauta.

I tried fried Slim Jims, and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Bon appetite? Hmmm...maybe.

"They come in on a binge and eat the highest calorie largest portion dish that you have," said Lane.

Hot dog twinkies, monster burritos, sloppy Joes in donuts, chocolate bacon...it poses the question...are people really going to eat that?
