TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Earl Campbell said it best, "I love coming back home, when I get to Waco, I can see Tyler, and I get happy."

The "Tyler Rose" was back in East Texas today, signing autographs and taking pictures with all who came.

"It never really gets old, Tyler will always be my home, and I love coming back," said Campbell.

Inside the "One More Pair" store on Erwin street, Campbell sat comfortbally in his chair, greeting all who came by.

A far cry from just months ago, when he was still recovering from back surgery.

"I feel good, sometimes when I start getting frustrated, I see other people in wheel-chairs, and then I remember that it isn't so bad."

Campbell hurt his back while working on his ranch just outside of Tyler.

When asked if he still gets the urge to play football, Campbell put it, "I had my day, and Jim Brown would say the same thing, we had our day, and now it is time to move on to other things."

Recently, Campbell was named the All-Time Favorite Texas Longhorn Football player.

"They [reporters] want to give me all this credit, but there were alot of players at Texas that could be named the best, I just happened to have a good run while I was there."
