EZ Mart robbery, foot chase lead to officer-involved fatal shooting

MARSHALL, TX (KLTV) -

Released by the Marshall Police Department:

Marshall, TX - On Monday afternoon, Marshall Police Department Dispatchers received a call reporting an armed robbery of the EZ Mart located at 2507 West Pinecrest Drive in Marshall.

Marshall Police Officers responded to the area and attempted to stop a vehicle near the location. The driver failed to stop and a pursuit ensued. The pursuit continued on East Pinecrest crossing Hwy 59 and ending in the 2300 block of Five Notch Road where the vehicle lost control and struck a ditch. MPD officers gave chase on foot and apprehended one of the two occupants in the vehicle.

At the time of the pursuit; MPD dispatchers were notified that a third actor was still inside the store and was leaving on foot. Other MPD officers responding to the robbery scene (EZ Mart) began checking the area. A Marshall Police officer located a subject fitting the description given and initiated a foot pursuit in the wooded area just east of the robbery location. The foot pursuit resulted in the officer using deadly force.

The officer involved is on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation which is being conducted by the Texas Rangers.

The investigation is ongoing.
