WHITE OAK, TX (KLTV) - Recently, East Texans have found half of a toad and a complete frog in their frozen vegetables. Now, a White Oak man says he found a rat's jaw!

"You can see, there's a root and then there's a root," said Ben Leonard.

He has carefully studied what looks like a bone fragment. He says his wife found it in a package of Great Value brand frozen mixed vegetables.

"She thought it was a big chunk of corn cob or something and the further I got into it the more I thought, 'Oh no, this is rat's jaw!'" said Leonard.

Which leads him to believe something gross to think about.

"There was a whole rat and so somebody else has got the rest of it," he said.

"So did you guys eat the rest of those vegetables?" I asked.

"We ate them all before we found out what it was," he replied.

Leonard says he reported the nasty discovery to the Wal-Mart on Gilmer Road in Longview, where he bought the bag. They directed him to the manufacturer and, boy, did he have a bone to pick with them.

"They did ask me, 'Was this a piece of conveyer belt (the white chunk)?' I said, 'No, this is dark and it's got roots coming out of it. I know what plastic looks like.'"

Leonard says after being transferred multiple times, the manufacturer's insurance company offered him $500. He said no thanks, preferring instead to get the word out.

"I would like to see them more responsive to the customer," said Leonard.

We contacted Wal-Mart media relations Thursday morning and they were going to check into this for us. So far, we have not heard back. We also sent the lot number on the bag to the local health department so they can trace it.

Leonard says he plans on taking that bone to be analyzed.
