DALLAS (AP) - The Dallas Stars have placed defenseman Karlis Skrastins (SKRAS'-tihns) on injured reserve with a lacerated right index finger.
The listing is retroactive until Dec. 3, meaning the 35-year-old Latvian could return to play Dec. 10.
Skrastins suffered the injury Dec. 3 against Anaheim after skating in 28 games this season with the Stars, amassing five assists and eight penalty minutes. He ranks 10th in the National Hockey League with 63 blocked shots this season. In 707 career NHL games, he has 27 goals and 88 assists for 115 points.
To fill his roster spot, the Stars have recalled 21-year-old Russian defenseman Ivan Vishnevskiy (ee-VAHN' vihsh-NAHF'-skee) from the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League. In 27 games for Texas, Vishnevsky has four goals and six assists for 10 points.
