Released by Wesley M. Criddle with the Wood County Sheriff's Office:

WOOD COUNTY, TX - On Saturday, November 28, 2009, at approximately 12:39 a.m., the Wood County Sheriff's Department received a 9-1-1 call in reference to shots being fired. Deputies responded along with troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety to a residence located in the Holiday Village subdivision at 525 Comanche Drive. Upon arrival, officers located the scene of an apparent double homicide and suicide.

At the residence there were nine persons total, three of which were deceased, including the suspect/shooter.

According to statements, the suspect, Baron Vance BiBee, a 51-year-old white male from Quitman, Texas, entered through an unlocked kitchen door. BiBee's estranged wife, Valerie BiBee, a 47-year-old white female from Quitman was asleep on the living room floor and heard Baron BiBee enter the residence. After a confrontation between Valerie and Baron, Valerie contacted the Wood County Sheriff's Office via 911.

Baron BiBee fired shots at Valerie, who then pretended to be dead. Baron BiBee then shot and killed the second victim, Jimmie Ira Burgan, a 66-year-old white male from Claude, Texas. Baron BiBee then came in contact with Valerie BiBee's mother, Marilyn Jeanne Purley, a 70-year-old white female from San Jacinto, California, whom Baron BiBee shot and killed also, before taking his own life with the same .357 magnum handgun.
