Tulane-SMU Preview Capsule

Associated Press - November 25, 2009 11:35 AM ET

Line: SMU by 17 1/2.

Series: Tulane leads 12-5.

Last meeting: 2008, Tulane 34-27

What's at Stake

SMU is bowl eligible, but might need a victory to ensure it breaks a 25-year postseason drought. The Mustangs can still host the Conference USA title game with a win and a Houston loss. Tulane has lost 6 of 7. The Green Wave had 50 yards of offense, a C-USA record, in a 49-0 loss to Central Florida last weekend.

Key Matchup

Tulane's offense vs. SMU's defense. Tulane ranks toward the bottom of the conference in many offensive categories, including last in scoring at less than 16 points per game. SMU has forced 26 turnovers this season, including 16 interceptions. The Mustangs gave up 475 yards in a 34-31 loss to Marshall.

Players to Watch

Tulane: WR Jeremy Williams went over the 1,000-yard receiving mark against Central Florida. Williams has five 100-yard games this season.

SMU: WR Emmanuel Sanders, the school's all-time leading pass catcher, has 21 receptions for 364 yards and four touchdowns over the past three games.
