SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) - Championship match MVP Andie Malloy had 16 kills and 10 assists to lead defending state champion Lucas Lovejoy past nine time champion Monahans 25-20, 25-21, 25-23 in the UIL Class 3A finals.
Lovejoy (43-7) won its second straight championship Saturday in only its third year of varsity competition and held off the determined Loboes in each of the three games.
Natalie Puckett had 13 kills and 14 digs for the Leopards while Laura McDaniel added 5 kills. Tyler Bradsher added 23 assists while Addason lamb finished with 12 digs.
Amy Rose and Kristi Holly had ten kills each for Monahans (41-6) while Shelbi Cornelius added eight kills. Erin Fisher had 34 assists and 13 digs while Shelbi Najar had 11 digs.
