Released by Lt. Roman Roberson with the Kilgore PD:

KILGORE, TX - The Kilgore Police Department’s investigation into the last two fatality traffic accidents confirmed alcohol to be a factor in both.

The first fatality crash occurred on Friday, 10-02-2009 in the 1400 block of State Highway 31 in Kilgore, Texas. This crash consisted of a motorcycle leaving the roadway after striking a curb. The operator of the motorcycle, identified as Frank Anthony Martin, 42 years of age, of Kilgore, Texas, did not survive the crash. A blood sample taken from Frank Martin and submitted to the Texas Department of Public Safety laboratory for analysis showed his Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) to be .22. The legal limit in the State of Texas is .08 BAC.

The second fatality crash occurred Friday, 10-23-2009 also on State Highway 31, near the intersection of Fritz-Swanson, Kilgore, Texas. This crash was the result of Fredrick Hill, 45 years of age, of Kilgore, Texas, crossing into oncoming traffic and striking another vehicle head-on. Mr. Hill was transported to a local hospital but soon succumbed to his injuries and died. A blood sample taken from Fredrick Hill and submitted to the Texas Department of Public Safety laboratory for analysis showed his Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) to be .24. .24 BAC is three times the legal limit.

These fatalities demonstrate the real dangers associated with drinking and driving which is death or serious injuries to yourself or others. The Kilgore Police Department continues to maintain a zero tolerance policy in regards to Driving While Intoxicated Offenses and upholds aggressive DWI enforcement.
