One Texan's small town dream is now ready for its big screen debut. Noble Things, a film about a singer's rise to fame, premieres tonight at Hollywood Theatres in Tyler.
KLTV 7 News talked to the man who made the movie. Brett Moses is the co-director, co-writer and leading actor, and he said the movie closely parallels his own life.
"You are going to see things that you recognize, characters that you can relate to, feelings that you will be able to celebrate after the film," said Moses.
Shot and based in Southeast Texas, Moses said it's the friendships and relationships of his childhood that serve as the backdrop of this film.
"The movie is 90 percent autobiographical."
Noble Things tells the story of Jimmy Wayne Collins. Played by Moses, the aspiring country music star is quickly discovered and leaves his small town behind.
"The night of the record signing party and the announcing of me going on tour, something happens," said Moses.
Seeking stardom, Jimmy forces his family to hide the dark secrets of his past, but finds himself returning just a few years later.
"When I come back, there is a lot to clean up," Moses said.
Moses says it's the camaraderie among actors that makes the film a success. One in particular is Jacksonville native, Lee Ann Womack.
"She's incredible. She does an incredible performance. That is one of the reasons we were critically acclaimed was because of the surprise performance of Lee Ann Womack," Moses said.
The independent film will continue debuting across the country, but Moses says it's the fans right here that make his journey worthwhile. When asked if the response from Texans has been what he imagined, he replied, "Overwhelming. Overwhelming."
