NEW ORLEANS, La. (AP) - Mike McQueen, chief of bureau for the Associated Press in Louisiana and Mississippi, has died. He was 52.
McQueen had been on medical leave since the spring. He died Sunday from complications of cancer and congestive heart failure.
McQueen's journalism career began in 1977 as a reporter for the Tallahassee Democrat. He also worked as managing editor of The Macon Telegraph in Georgia and on the staffs of The Miami Herald, USA Today and Gannett News Service.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda, and son, Otto.
