POLLOK, TX (KTRE) - A Tyler man has been transported to Lufkin Memorial Hospital following a two-vehicle wreck on Highway 69 in Pollok.
At about 11:30 a.m., John Contrell, of Tyler, was driving his Ford F-150 truck when it was struck by a 2006 Chrysler van causing it to flip over on the other side of the road, Trooper Phillip Richard said.
The driver of the van, Claude Scott, 79, of Center pulled out on the highway southbound apparently without looking, causing his vehicle to collide with Contrell's.
The contents of Contrell's pick-up, which included a mass amount of paint, sandpaper and other items, were heavily littered on the side of the highway and in a ditch. A clean-up crew was called to the scene.
Scott and his passenger, Rene Morrow, 49, of Lufkin were not seriously injured in the accident. Scott was cited for failure to yield right-of-way at a stop sign. Contrell is considered to be in stable condition.
"The thing that shook me up the most was watching that guy flip," Morrow said.
As of 1:30 p.m., two lanes of traffic were closed as crews worked to clear the debris.
