Flooding conditions cause some school, road closures

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - Hughes Springs ISD is letting out classes at 1:30 Tuesday afternoon (October 13) because of the flooding conditions in the county.

Jody Weber from Northeast Texas Community College in Mt. Pleasant says all classes for the rest of the day are canceled due to the campus being without power. Offices on campus will close at 3pm. A decision about Wednesday's classes will be made by 6:30 Wednesday morning.

Van ISD says the start time for classes will be delayed by two hours Wednesday, October 14.

Pittsburg ISD is delaying classes until 10am Wednesday because of flooded roads in Camp County.

Hughes Springs ISD will have a 1 hour delay Wednesday.

Big Sandy ISD is delaying classes until 9am.

Dangerfield Lone-Star ISD is also delaying classes. Their classes will start at 10am

Harmony ISD is cancelling classes Wednesday (October 14).

Gilmer ISd is also cancelling classes. However, teachers will still report to work.

The Cherokee County Courthouse in Rusk has confirmed there is flooding in its basement.

There are reports of high water over roads in Kaufman and Van Zandt County - even a report of a high water rescue in Terrell.

Five miles east of Mineola, in Wood County, County Road and Bridge officials report that County Roads 2336, 2270 and a bridge over a portion of Lake Holbrook are underwater.

In Texarkana, reports are coming in of water three to four feet over city streets.

In Sulphur Springs, numerous roads are flooded.

In Upshur County, Gilmer law enforcement report that several roads across the northern half of the county are under water.

Pittsburg law enforcement in Camp County report that numerous roads are under water.

South of Quitman near the intersection of Highway 37 and CR 2330, three homes were evacuated after an earthen dam on Vickory Lake broke.

In Smith County, CR 484 is washed out. CR 426 and CR 452 are closed because their bridges are flooded.
