BEN WHEELER, TX (KLTV) - One East Texas community has decided to honor one of their biggest problems.
Ben Wheeler will be holding their Feral Hog Festival October 24th. They were officially proclaimed as the 'Wild Hog Capital of Texas' Tuesday. They say the festival gives them the chance to take a problem, and at least have a little fun with it.
"It's something that gives us the opportunity to make lemonade out of lemons," said event organizer Brooks Gremmels. "Feral hogs and wild hogs are such a problem in rural areas. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em."
The event will feature Wild Hog Follies, a Wild Hog Ball, and of course, the Hog Queen Pageant. That pageant will be open to men and women. More than 6,000 people attended the first festival last year.
