Ellen Krafve

KLTV.com Producer Ellen Krafve is proud to be a born and bred East Texan!

Growing up in the Tyler area, she graduated high school and attended Tyler Junior College (go Apaches!). She received an Associate's Degree in Natural Sciences. At the time, she thought she wanted to become a large animal veterinarian, but after an internship at KLTV in Tyler, her focus changed and she transferred to the University of North Texas to study Radio, Television and Film.

During her time at school, Ellen reported and anchored at UNT's television station, NTTV, whose nightly news program is devoted to providing local content for Denton and its surrounding area. Because of Ellen's report on how foster families were being affected by the struggling economy, the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association awarded her first place for best television non-feature story. Ellen was also awarded a scholarship by the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters for her work as a broadcast television student.

When Ellen is not at home volunteering with some of the many non-profit organizations East Texas has to offer, she is off having adventures! She has traveled to Peru where she took a four day hike up to Machu Pichu, swam with Monet's Water Lilies at the Musée de L'Orangerie in Paris, had tea with the Queen of England on her birthday...twice (Trooping the Colour), and found out that she likes tortillas de patatas más que paella cuando ella estaba en España. She says the best part of traveling is returning home to her East Texas pine trees.

She loves to meet new people and help out her fellow East Texans so feel free to send her an email with any questions or story ideas you may have at ekrafve@kltv.com or follow her on Twitter!
