HOT SPRINGS, Va. (AP) - Sherry Herman is celebrating the biggest title of her career.
She pulled away for a 4 and 3 win in the final of the US Women's Senior Amateur on Thursday at The Homestead's Cascades Course.
Herman, Farmingdale, N.J., won 4 of the first nine holes on the back nine to take a 4-up lead over Carolyn Creekmore of Dallas, Texas. Herman took the lead for good with a birdie on the 10th hole.
Herman, 51, clinched the title with par on the par-3 15th hole. She also won the North & South Senior Women's Amateur earlier this year.
