This afternoon, we have been mostly sunny with spotty showers and storms in a few locations, mainly in Deep East Texas counties. Those lucky cities have had a nice cool down provided by the rain, but the rest of the East Texas landscape has been baking with highs in the mid 90s, and heat index values exceeding 100 degrees in many locations. Though we have been hot today, East Texas is actually a few degrees cooler than yesterday. Any rain that has developed will fizzle out as the sun sets and as temperatures go down. East Texas skies will remain calm and quiet overnight. Lows will make it back into the 70s, giving the area a mild start on Sunday.
Chances for showers and storms for the afternoon will increase to about 40%. The wet weather is still expected to be spotty in nature. We will gain extra cloud cover tomorrow as well. The extra rain and clouds will help to control the heat. After the Heat Advisories expire this evening at 7 p.m., it will likely not be extended into Sunday. For those who will not see rain tomorrow, expect Sunday's highs to soar into the low 90s.
Have a great weekend!
