Good morning, East Texas!
Temps are starting off chilly for your pre-Friday, with morning lows in the mid to upper 40s, so make sure you grab a light jacket for you and kids. Thanks to the abundant sunshine we're going to get today, and the strong southerly winds, you won't need that jacket for very long as highs for today will rocket into the mid to upper 70s. Speaking of those southerly winds, make sure you're careful on the lakes today as there could be some pretty decent chop on the water. Winds are expected anywhere from 5-15 mph with gusts as high as 25 mph are possible, so make sure you grab a life jacket and keep it on!
Sunshine will remain in the forecast throughout the rest of the work week with increasing cloud cover, and rain enters the forecast on Sunday as those southerly winds drag moisture from the Gulf of Mexico into our area. Don't expect a washout for your weekend, as we are just looking at a 20 percent chance of a pop-up shower or thunderstorm. Welcome to spring!
The real rain chances arrive late Tuesday into early Wednesday as a strong upper-level disturbance moves into East Texas. This cold front will be met with a lot of moisture due to the dominant southerly winds we've had all week. It is too early to pinpoint exactly when this system will work its way through our area but rest assured we will keep our eyes peeled as the start of next week gets closer.
Don't forget to grab a light jacket this morning and some sunglasses for today, you're definitely going to need them!
