It's kind of like The Apprentice of East Texas. The 2006 Peltier Business Plan Competition is for the college student, with a head for business. This afternoon, five student teams presented an innovative business plan to a panel of judges in the business community. Teams came from colleges all around the country like the University of Arizona and Harvard. The winner gets $25,000donated by Tyler businessman Robert Peltier.
"Getting a business off the ground, it takes a lot of input, and these type of competitions give us an opportunity to really hear ideas from entrepreneurs and success full folks in the community," said CEO of Table Top Media Shawn Gentry. "Maybe they can help us uncover something we didn't see in the past, help us be more success full."
Today's winner was Lono Media Systems from Harvard University. They presented a business plan that included medical technology for high-risk pregnancies.
