TYLER, TX (KLTV) - It was during her son's second tour in Iraq when Jenny Clark decided to start a business. Her mission was to create basic training for others. "We do business software training," said Clark. "We have a computer lab so the students get hands on training."

She says one of the most important parts of owning her own business is networking with other women, and it was at the 12th Annual Women's Entrepreneur Luncheon that she did just that. "As women, we need to support each other," said Clark.

"It sells out mostly every year," said Lori Greene, the event coordinator. "We just encourage women to come."

Despite the tough economic times, women like Marsi Estep say it is this encouragement that helps them succeed. "Don't let your brain talk you out of it," said Estep. "We all have that negative thought...it is perfect for this kind of economy."

Once your mind is made up to start a business, the women say seek expert advice. Talk to lawyers and accountants, and get help writing a business plan. "It is the most wonderful experience," said Clark. "To work for yourself and make it or break it on your own."
