Growing up in Kerrville, the heart of the Texas hill country Morgan may miss home, but says East Texas is growing on him...fast.
Before joining the KLTV news team, Morgan was a jack-of-all-trades, reporting, shooting, and producing for KVHC-15 in his hometown.
Deciding to follow in the footsteps of Dan Rather, Morgan attended Sam Houston State University where he received his Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism. While a student at Sam, Morgan got involved with the student run newscast both in front and behind the camera.
It wasn't until the summer of 2007 when Morgan landed an internship at News 4 WOAI in San Antonio that he knew he had made the right career choice. Working alongside "The Troubleshooters," News 4's investigative reporting team he discovered undercover work, tedious research, and sometimes a bit of luck come together in the ultimate payoff.
Capping off his collegiate career, Morgan lived in New York City the summer of 2008 as an intern for the CBS Weekend News. Seeing operations at a network level provided great perspective and he says his experience there taught him a lot about news and even more about big city living.
On his days off you'll probably find Morgan, a true outdoor enthusiast outside on his bike or with a backpack on in the nearest bit of wilderness, enjoying nature at its best.
Morgan says the best way to learn about a community is through the people who live there and encourages you to drop him a line at mchesky@kltv.com with story ideas, thoughts, or just to say hello.
