A Rusk County couple has been arraigned today on capital murder charges for allegedly beating the woman's 13 month old daughter to death.

Jessica Carson, 18, and Blaine Keith Milam, also 18, were arrested at about 11:00 am Tuesday for the beating of 13 month old Amora Bain Carson Tuesday morning.

An arrest affadavit stated that the couple beat the baby because they believed she was possessed. Authorities believe that a hammer was used, although that determination will be made after autopsy results come back.

Rusk County Judge Bob Richardson said that the couple, who called 9-1-1 themselves, first gave police different stories about what had happened to Amora, including that the baby had been in a car accident the day before, that dogs had bitten the baby, or that the baby had hit itself.

He also said that in his 30 years of experience, this is probably the worst case he's ever seen.

"Yesterday morning, they went to Instant Cash Pawn here in Henderson and pawned some tools to get some cash to bring a priest out there to get the demons out of the child...so, in the mean time the live in stepfather decided to get the demons out himself," said Judge Richardson. "When we got there the baby was laying in the middle of the floor of the bedroom...You're looking at a 13 month old baby that has had her head bashed in...it's gruesome."

"The baby wasn't old enough to fight back or anything...she had no chance in the world," said Judge Richardson.

Both suspects are being held on two million dollar bonds each in the Rusk County Jail.

Milam has faced a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child before, and was sentenced for that crime back in August 2008.
