A different kind of RV park is open in Gladewater, and it's offering more than just a place to hook-up to power. KLTV 7's Bob Hallmark has more on a fun RV park that gives visitors the feeling of being among friends.
In years past, RV parks were quiet places. People would hook up to utilities and spend a day or two on the way to somewhere else. But now, check out this place. Antique Capital RV Park in Gladewater is what you might call...interactive.
"We desired to help people know about Gladewater, and we have great antique shops here, a lot of them," said Larry Seery, the park's co-owner. "Two nights a week we have popcorn and movies."
"Well, it really grabbed me. I thought it was something we could really develop here," said Benny Cornutt, co-owner.
There are 105 parking slots. Visitors can hook up to 24 cable tv channels. There are catered meals every night and an activity center with games and live music.
"It's kind of like a mini-cruise with all the amenities, but not the expense," said Larry.
One of the biggest hits at the park is Monday nights, when they have karaoke night when anybody can stand up and try their voice
"Where everybody can come and make an absolute idiot out of themselves and laugh and have fun," laughed Larry.
There are 7 restrooms with showers and baths, a laundromat, and a general store.
"Really just knowing that they have the activities period, I was surprised," said Dean Hill, a park visitor.
Larry hopes what they are doing will put their town on people's travel map, with their park as the vacation destination.
"Gladewater's a great little town!"
