Marine's Car Found; Purple Heart & Uniform Still Missing

A follow up on the East Texas Marine that had his car stolen.

20 year old Blake Weller, a Marine from Whitehouse, is on leave and, just three days ago, his car was stolen along with his uniform and medals, including a purple heart.

Police were able to get his car back and now the suspected thief is in jail. But Blake said he is still missing the thing most important to him.

About 5:45am Monday morning Blake received quite a wake up call.

"I received a phone call from Tyler PD and they said they have recovered my car in Dallas," said Corporal Blake Weller.

Dallas Police stopped his car around 3 a.m. on a routine traffic stop. They ran the plates and realized it was stolen.

21 year old Ershaun Waldon was arrested and is in the Dallas County jail, waiting to be transferred to East Texas.

"I'm just happy to have this back in one piece," said Blake.

The 2005 Mazda RX 8 was stolen Friday at the Tyler mall just three days after Blake bought it.  Laying in the front seat was his dress blue uniform with his five medals and Purple Heart.

"Definitely missing the [Purple] Heart," said Blake. "I got something back, but I didn't get what I really wanted back."

Blake had just returned from his first tour in Iraq. He earned the Purple Heart after a mortar attack left him with a very serious concussion. However, Blake is still thankful because it could have been worse.

"I looked at every other car and there were cars there with holes in them and smashed. I looked at my car on the outside. I was just amazed it wasn't touched. God is on my side."

But Blake is asking for one more thing from God: that his uniform and medals are found.

"If I could definitely get my uniform back that would be great. If anything just get the uniform back. That is all," said Blake.

A plea from a servicemen who will return to his base in California in two weeks and hopes to have his blues with his medals on them.
