Ex-Youth Minister Accused of Sexual Abuse

A former Upshur County Youth Minister is in jail charged with two counts of sexual misconduct with children.   Thirty-nine year-old Kevin Laferney was arrested and accused of Indecency with a Child and Sexual Assault.

At this point, investigators are remaining tight-lipped, saying they do not want to jeopardize the outcome of this case.   We do know that the suspect Kevin Laferney has been charged with Sexual Assault of a 13-year-old girl for an incident back in June and Indecency with a Child in relation to a 10-year-old girl that happened earlier this month.

People in the community say they do not think these are the only incidences and believe the abuse has been going on for years.

Upshur County investigators say there are probably more victims and want them to come forward with any information they have.  Investigator David Dickerson says, "we do believe there are more victims...it's earlier in the case, but we think there may be others."

Laferney is being held in the Upshur County jail on 300,000 dollars bond.
