The Tyler High School Class of 1941 was the first of Tyler's "Greatest Generation". When the group met this week for their 65th reunion, all agreed that 1941 was a year that changed their lives forever. The attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7,1941 was the catalyst for Gerald Sanders, Kirby Larabee, James Ulmer, Frank Gatewood and others to joined the armed forces. These four returned home safely while others of thier class found death on distant shores. The graduates of Tyler High School Class of '41 are well in their eighties now. 197 are deceased. As for those who went to war, worked in defense factories, or kept the home fires burning, all remember vividly the year 1941, when they were being molded to become "America's Greatest Generation."
