Joe Terrell came to KLTV in January 1997. He anchors KLTV 7 News at 5 and 6.  He is also the Assistant News Director.

Joe was born and raised in the Dallas area and is an alumnus of the University of North Texas in Denton. He spent almost four years reporting and anchoring for KTAL-TV in Shreveport and Texarkana before his career moved him to the Midwest.

Joe enjoyed a four-year stay along the banks of the Ohio River in Evansville, Indiana. At WFIE-TV, Joe anchored and covered many award-winning special reports including "Best News Series" and "Best Spot News Coverage" recognition from the Radio and Television News Directors Association. Joe has also been recognized with a national Oscar in Agriculture Award for "Best Series Reporting".

Shortly after landing in Tyler, Joe produced and reported an award-winning documentary on the Tyler Independent School District bond issue and has been recognized as "Best Anchor" by the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters three different times.

Joe's Emmy Award Winning, "Does It Work?" runs every Tuesday on KLTV 7 News at 10.  "Does it Work?" is shot and edited by KLTV 7's Jamey Boyum.  Together, Joe and Jamey have won two Emmys for "Does it Work?", most recently in October of 2010! (Follow "Does It Work?" on Twitter http://twitter.com/DoesItWork7.)

Joe has also been awarded two Emmys for "Outstanding Evening Newscast" for KLTV 7 Newscasts as Anchor and Managing Editor.

Joe is married and is the proud father of a little boy and girl.  He has served on the board of the Northeast Texas Alzheimer's Alliance...a cause that is close to Joe's heart.  His mother had the disease.  Joe is also the longest serving board member of the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters and is currently the board's Chairman for all of Texas.  Joe has donated countless hours to East Texas charities and non-profit groups.

"East Texas is packed with old friends and family, some dating back more than 40 years, " Joe says. "My parents lived in and around East Texas for years. My grandparents lived here most of their lives. Moving back to East Texas was one of the most natural and satisfying things I've ever done," he says.

Joe enjoys golf, computers and responding to viewer e-mail.

"Feel free to drop me a line about what's going on in your community…or just to say hello."
