It is the fifth of May, and that was cause enough for some East Texas school kids to celebrate. Fourth and fifth graders at Longview's McClure Elementary performed a special "Cinco de Mayo" program this afternoon.
They wore colorful costumes and danced to traditional Mexican music. Cinco de Mayo commemorates the day a relatively small Mexican army defeated a numerically superior French army at the battle of Puebla in 1862.
More than 300 kids took part in today's celebration.
