In the largest study of its kind, nearly 22,000 people were monitored over nine years. They found those who attended church at least once a week lived on average seven years longer than those who did not attend.
Some local seniors we spoke with agreed with the findings.

"I'm not talking about any specific religion, but they just feel like maybe they have a better shot at what it's all about," Tom Knowles said.
Walter Dawkins agreed.

"I think its a combination of things in your life that increases your life of course religion is one of the things that is instrumental, " he said.

Stats from some of the world's most influential religious leaders may also help back-up the study. Evangelist Billy Graham turns 85 on Friday. Pope John Paul the II is 83, and Mother Teresa was 87 when she passed.
