DALLAS (AP) - Dallas County says it won't meet its goal of accepting unaccompanied immigrant children by the end of the month. A judge has offered three county buildings to house young immigrants and take pressure off crowded detention centers in South Texas. County and federal officials are still working to assess the locations.
QUITMAN, Texas (AP) - Authorities have filed an evidence tampering charge against a man after finding two children dead at an apartment in the East Texas town of Quitman. Witnesses say they saw a man running from the apartment and throwing items in a trash bin. The girls were ages 1 and 3.
DALLAS (AP) - It's not clear yet when the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals will rule on the case of Michael Phillips. Prosecutors say DNA evidence clears the 57-year-old Dallas man of a 1990 rape and he should be exonerated. Phillips served 12 years in prison for the attack on a 16-year-old girl at a motel but prosecutors now say another man was the rapist.
DECATUR, Ala. (AP) - Dallas Cowboys linebacker Rolando McClain has been convicted of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct in his hometown in Alabama. A judge in Decatur found McClain guilty of the misdemeanor counts on Friday. He faces 18 days in jail for yelling an obscenity at police trying to arrest him during a disturbance in 2013.
