Scattered light rain has been hanging around East Texas today, but overnight a squall line will bring storm potential to East Texas. A cold front is marching towards East Texas. The front is responsible for producing this convection. Northwestern portions of East Texas will receive the storms first. Storms will advance southeastward during the morning hours. By sunrise, the showers and storms will likely weaken. Still expect widespread rain as you start your day. The area could receive 1-2 inches of rain.

A First Alert Weather Day has been issued for Sunday morning. Damaging winds is the highest risk with these strong storms. Hail potential is also a risk with the convection. Tornado and Flash Flooding risks are low.

The cold front is expected to pass by the afternoon. There could still be a few lingering showers, especially in Deep East Texas. Highs for Sunday will be in the low to mid 70s. After the front passes, pleasant conditions will replace the stormy weather. We jump start the work week with mostly sunny skies and temperatures near 50 degrees to start the day. Highs will be in the mid 70s. A few more cold fronts will pass through East Texas during the week, keeping our air cool and Fall-like for days to come.
